Depression and Anxiety

Stress, Insomnia, OCD

Weight loss, Eating disorders,

Smoking, Alcohol/Drug withdrawal

Pre-mentrual & Menopausal symptoms

Headaches, Migraines, sinusitis

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Neck & Shoulder pain

Muscular/joint pain, Arthritis

Eczema & Asthma

How does Ear Acupuncture work?

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the vital energy of the body (Chi) runs through pathways which converge at the ear. Illness and disorders are thought to accur when Chi becomes blocked. Acupuncture is believed to free the channles and restore the body to health.

In the West, it is thought that stimulating the acupuncture points in the ears influences the neurochemical pathways of the brain, and generates a neural chain of events which influence the mesolimbic centre of the brain. The treatment stimulates the release of natural body chemicals including endorphins.

What happens during a treatment?

After an initial consultation during which I take your medical history, the acupuncture is performed in a peaceful, therapeutic setting while you are lying on a comfortable couch and listening to relaxing music.

An average of 5 tiny sterile, disposable needles are placed onto points in the outer ear, and you rest quietly for the remainder of the session. (about 45 mins in total)

Tiny magnets, or seeds may be placed on selected points and secured with small plasters in order to enhance the effects of the acupuncture between treatments.

On average, 1-2 treatments are required, up to a maximum of 4 visits.

Auricular Acupuncture can be combined with other treatments such as Thai or Swiss Reflexology foot treatments, while you relax and listen to music.
